Faust x Faune Motion Graphics Graffiti Mural

‘There was a huge event organized by Culture Shock at a raw warehouse space in Bushwick, Brooklyn on Saturday and I collaborated with friends of mine at the motion graphics studio Faune, painting a 10 ft x 30 ft mural to compliment a 6 ft pyramid protruding from the wall on which they projected video art.
I aspired for the mural to challenge the popular perception of graffiti, warping my ‘tag’ to an architectural scale which drew as much from art history and design as it did the streets. Their video featured constantly blending patterns that would fluctuate between color and black and white. By using projection mapping techniques and real-time 3D software they were able to create a sculptural extension of the existing wall, a glowing, living object that interacts with physical space. Collaborating with Faune made me look at my work in a new way. We both had very formal concerns about shape and rhythm but they were able to articulate those ideas in a way I never could. The result of our combined efforts transcended the traditional notion of what a mural is.’ -FAUST
